Our Kitchen Sink Science Experiment

For the 4th of July, Grandmommy and Granddaddy sent us some ribs that were packed in dry ice for shipping. As I put the ribs away, Emma ran to the cooler box they had been delivered in and shouted, "Wow! Grandmommy sent us ICE!!" She picked up a piece of the ice and quickly figured out that this was no ordinary ice. "Aaaaaahh....ouch!" And she threw it into the sink.

That's when the cool stuff started happenning! As soon as the dry ice hit the sink a crazy whistling noise started, and almost immediately the gas released from the dry ice caused a fog to rise out of the sink.

The kids of course thought this was so cool, and they couldn't keep their hands out of this cold "steam" that was filling the sink and running across the countertops. It did look very neat!

Alyssa began to blow into the fog and it circled around just like the tornadoes we had seen at the science museum a couple of weeks ago.

Very pleased with the outcome of our tiny experiment. And thank you very much for the ribs!! I'm sure they will be delicious!!
(....And they were delicious, since I typed out this draft we enjoyed 3 of the slabs!)

Yummmy, I could go for some ribs! It's so nice of Dave's parents to send you guys stuff all the time! Even though they live far away, I bet it makes your kids feel like they are still an important part of their lives!!
