Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake

After Aunt June's we headed to my parent's lakehouse. The girls are playing house in the bedroom. Alyssa is wrapping up the baby on the bed, and Emma is dancing around with what I think is a back scratcher.

We went hiking and exploring in the ravine next to the house. I encouraged the girls to wear hats and long pants to avoid deer ticks getting in their hair, and poison ivy on their skin.

Alyssa walking on a fallen tree trunk across the ravine.

Emma scaling a fallen trunk.

Now it's Grandma and Grandpa's turn to cross a different log. Alyssa and Emma have already made it to the other side, they are the two tiny dots right behind the area of sunshine.

Exploring with Grandma.

Bekah and I in the middle of a trunk crossing.

When I found a really sturdy log, I couldn't resist doing a split jump. If only the balance beam had been that wide!!

Ka'iulani copied off Daddy and found a perfect walking stick.

A and E climbing the log so they could head up the hill and back to the house.

Cooling off in the pool...Swinging baby for a take off!

Way up high "around the world."

Splash Down! Big smile.

Emma playing in the pool.

Alyssa swimming under the water. In the only picture I have of her above water she's wiping water out of her eyes, so I guess this is the best one.

Hanging onto Grandma's hand having fun.

Warming up in a towel.

Trying to teach a giggling Em how to do a pullover.

Climbing the high bar...

...The next phase of the climb. She makes my mom a little nervous when she does this.

A on the slide. The bigger kids had poured a bunch of water down the slide, making it very slippery.

On the Merry go Round.

Because hanging from stationary objects got a little too easy, she had to try hanging upside down from a moving merry go round :) Never a dull moment!

Always wanting to help ~ she washed down Grandpa's quad for him. He told her it had never looked so clean since it was brand new!

Roasting marshmallows with Daddy.

Covering her eyes because she doesn't like fire, no matter how controlled it is.

Silly girl warming her bottom.

Smiling in the living room. The girls can't wait to go back over the summer! Emma was already talking about how she is going to stay for 5 days.

Memorial Day Weekend

My cousin Michael graduated from High School last weekend, and after his party we had the chance to visit my Aunt June's farm. Here, the girls are thrilled to see her horse, Red.

Alyssa smiling as Emma gets a closer look.

Rebekah petting Red's face. Red is 38 years old!

She loved being up close to the horse until she was offered a ride. The big girls didn't pass up the chance though!

Aunt June leading the horse with Emma so excited.

Alyssa's turn, while Emma stays close by on the ground.

Aunt June probably didn't even realize how much she made Alyssa's day by letting her ride the horse, she was so happy. Alyssa loves horses, and she's collecting all the horse/pony webkinz. I also recently bought her a series of 4 chapter books about horses to read over summer vacation.

Kamele riding the tricycle, this was more to her liking. Although she loved touching Red's soft nose, she was not interested in getting on the horse.

Alyssa kept returning to Red's fence to get another look :)

Playing basketball with Daddy.

All smiles on the farm. Thank you, Aunt June! Even though it was brief, it was great to see you and the girls loved the farm!

Showcase Dance Recital

Last Friday night was the girls' dance recital. Here they are all dressed and ready to go. The theme of the recital was "Movie Plex," and all their music came from movie soundtracks.

Both of the girls had such a fun year of dancing, it was Alyssa's first year, and Emma's second year at Showcase Dance.

Both the tap and ballet routines for Kahiwa's class had a few little jumps in them. They were of course, her favorite parts of the routines.

Alyssa's favorite part of her tap routine was a circle walk where the entire class circles the stage to end up at their original positions. The fun part was keeping all the shuffle steps synchronized :) She loved it! Their tap song was "Cruel to be Kind."

This is Em's whole class, skipping on for the beginning of their ballet number. I love how you can see how excited she and the other little girl in the middle are as they smile at each other to start the routine. Their ballet song was "Stuck in the Middle With You."

Ready for tap.

Marching...Marching

Their tap number. Their tap song was "Day O." Just a little side note that I thought was cute and funny: the day of their dress rehearsal, the young ones came out on the stage, and I'm sure the huge stage felt way too big for these four tiny girls. They seemed pretty nervous as they did the entire tap number so close together on the stage that their fluffy pink tutus kept bouncing off each other. It looked very awkward but sweet at the same time. I can laugh about it now because the actual performance went perfectly.

Alyssa's class as they begin their jazz routine, she's in front on the far left. Their jazz song was "Ladies Choice."

A smile during her shuffle skip.

She had a huge smile on her face the whole program, she loves to perform.

The finale. The teacher on the left is the owner of the dance studio and Emma's teacher last year. The teacher on the right was both A and E's teacher this year, Miss Sarah.

The little ones bringing flowers to Miss Allison.

After the recital with Miss Sarah.

A and E with their flowers we gave them. Sorry it's blurry, I forgot I still had the camera on the taking pics from far away setting.

The flowers after we put them in a vase. The red roses were for Ka'iulani, the yellow for Kahiwa.
