4th of July Festivities

Before the 4th of July parade, they shut the streets down early so all the children could decorate them with sidewalk chalk. This is Ka'iulani's American Flag.

The girls and I standing in front of where they colored.

A and R hard at work on their chalk art.

I made chicken salad sandwiches for the parade, and was pleasantly surprised that Rebekah enjoyed them as much as she did. She ate 2!

Alyssa waving to the firemen as the parade begins.

Cuddling with Grandma as the sirens get loud.

Running to the road to gather the candy that is being thrown out. It's easy to see Ka'iulani is very happy with whatever she picked up and ran back with, and Kahiwa must not have gotten the piece she wanted, poor thing.

Rebekah thinking that she is going unnoticed (because she's on her tippy toes) as she runs to the middle of the road for candy.

Kahiwa running back to the safety of our curb, clearly more pleased than on her last run out to the candy.

Kamele watching the parade pass by.

All smiles with her candy.

The mayor of our town throwing out candy to Alyssa and Emma.

Alyssa was not shy at all about grabbing candy by the handfuls, and she couldn't have been more happy with her shopping bag that she brought home almost full.

Rebekah was a little more hesitant to run out into the road than the older girls were, but she got plenty too! And she certainly wasn't afraid to wrestle Alyssa for a piece ;-)
Alyssa very nicely gave up the candy for her.

All 3 girls with ice pops that our neighbor and friend, Mc Kenzie handed to them as she marched by with her softball team.

Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine made an appearance. Our girls LOVE Scooby!

Watermelon smiles.

Daddy swinging Rebekah around.

The girls played on the tot lot while they waited for the fireworks to begin. Alyssa was very proud of this necklace she's wearing, it lights up.

Emma laughing in the sand at the tot lot. In case "tot lot" is a wisconsin expression, it's just a playground.

We thought this firework looked a little like a sea star.

Colored streaks raining down.

Multi-colored splash. Happy 4th of July!

I like the expression "tot lot" I've never heard that one before :)

It was a nice weekend, and perfect weather too, if only the mosquito wasn't the state bird of Wisconsin. The poor girls got bitten up, Dave says it's their sweet Hawaiian blood. :-)

From seeing all your pictures, your whole family was decked out in patriotic attire all weekend ~ very cool! I especially loved Ava's red, white, and blue bathing suit and the cute flag toe nails!!
