Today was Promotion Sunday at church. Before first grade the pre-schoolers and kindergartners have music and crafts in their classrooms, along with playtime and a Bible lesson during Sunday School, but once they enter 1st grade they get to go to Children's Church. The pastors have a graduation ceremony for the kids who are leaving the pre-school side and are now offical members of Kidventure Church. It's a special Sunday for the children as they are welcomed into the chapel by the older students. Miss Candi even recognized the older siblings of each of the graduates as a way of encouraging the young kids coming up that they are in the company of kids they know and love. In the above photo all their little faces look timid as they stand on the stage looking out at the audience.
Emma posing for a picture as she quickly walks past us in the chapel.
Emma meeting Daddy at the wall as he played dodge ball in her class with the teachers for a little while this morning. One of the teachers for Emma's class has had this same group of kids for the last 3 years. He seemed a little sad to see them move on, and I know that would be hard because I have my students for just one calendar year and it's easy to feel attached. I can only imagine if I saw the children over the course of 3 years how much more difficult it would be to see them move to the next class.
I was waiting for Miss Candi to take her picture of the kids lined up, and then they began to pray for snack, so I missed all the smiles, but this is sweet too.
Emma and Natalie playing. They are quickly becoming good friends, they are both the middle of 3 girls so they have a lot in common.
Eating cake with Desirae. Congrats to all the Graduates!
Emma's Promotion Sunday Ceremony brought back memories of Alyssa's graduation three years ago. It was 11 day old, baby Rebekah's 1st time in church...
A very young looking Ka'iulani, in her graduation cap with her pink Bible bag strapped around her. She still uses this same pink Bible that Grandmommy and Granddaddy gave her :)
All 3 girls ready for church that morning.
Again posing for pics in their new cute outfits that Grandmommy picked out for them the day before, I had to post this one because of how young Kahiwa looked. Still a little bit of baby fat in her cheeks.
Rebekah trying to sleep in her infant carrier while in the pews. From the little sour look on her face, I can see she wasn't getting the rest she wanted.
Funny thing, this is the cake from August 27, 2006, but we had the same exact cake this morning. Not the same cake, the same design.
Alyssa and Grandmommy later that same day at the Public Museum. Not sure what Alyssa's silly look is all about, but she still makes that face.
And a special and rare occasion for us...The 3 girls with both Dave's parents and my parents!
My parents, and Emma's little hand at the bottom of the photo admiring Rebekah's tiny feet. As I was looking at all the pics Dave's Dad took that day, this one wasn't related to Promotion Sunday, but I loved it and couldn't resist posting it. Great Memories of special times, both today for Emma and three years ago with both our families!!

What a special day for Emma :) I hope in 3 years when Rebekah graduates to the 1st grade class, you post all of these pictures again. It's fun to see how much kids change over the years!
Seeing all these pics of tiny babies... does it kinda make you want another one? :)
