Labor Day At Harrington Beach

Labor day is likely a distant memory by now, but I had filled up our hard drive around this time, and was storing some pictures we had taken on a memory card. Ka'eo just recently finished updating the computer, so now I can get them off the card and onto the computer to share :-) On Monday of Labor day weekend, we went to Harrington Beach for a final summer day of playing in the sand...

Emma built a little rock garden near the picnic area and wanted me to photograph it.

Pretty sailboats passing by, it was a perfect day.

Smiling at Emma as they dig in the sand.

They decided to bury Dad in the sand. All three girls thought this was hilarious, and here, Kamele is pointing at Daddy covering his face with his t-shirt so the girls would not get sand in his eyes.

The girls working to bury Dad.

And here was the finished product! Just kidding, someone else built this cool turtle in the sand.

Emma very pleased with their progress so far in covering Dave.

Smiling at Daddy as she runs past him to get more sand.

Mission Accomplished! Sitting on top of a sand covered Dad.

Ka'iulani and Dad laughing as he unburied himself. Her pleased/excited smile is funny in this pic.

Rebekah and Alyssa laughing at Daddy who looked like a sand monster when he stood up.

Em and Alyssa laughing too. They could not have been more pleased with their success in making dad all messy with sand!

Next the girls decided to build a beam using a large branch they found on the beach.

Testing out the beam, and Kahiwa taking a big jump off the end.

Kahiwa sneaking under the beam. They dug a little hole underneath it to make it a real balance beam that you could fall off.

Emma and Rebekah meeting in the center to see who could push the other off first.

Alyssa and Emma have a turn to play. Emma was the undefeated Queen of the Beam on this day. No one could shake her and make her fall off!

Kahiwa posing with the sand castle we built.

Love the big baby tummy as she scoots across the beam.

Bekah smiling as she approaches the fun beam they built.

After spending the afternoon playing at the beach, we hiked around an old quarry at the park.

The girls loved hanging out over this edge peeking at the water below. There were lots of fish in some places and the water was so clear you could see straight down to the rocks. And the water was very, very deep being that it used to be used as a quarry over 100 years ago. The deep water actually led to me to have a bad dream about this place a week or two after our visit.

Dad holding onto Rebekah as she gets really close to the edge.

Hiking ahead of us.

Posing for pics on a rock.

It was fun looking at these pictures, even though the warm weather is now a thing of the past. Summer is such a FUN time of the year!
